Top child welfare department official held for rape

Bangalore (CNST), Apr.15: A top official of Karnataka's child development department has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman, who runs a school for children with special needs, police said. The 38-year-old woman, who runs the school in Mahalaxmipuram Batavadi area, had alleged in her police complaint that the state childern development department's Deputy Director Radhakrishna, had raped her at a hotel on April12, when she gone to meet him for release of medical grant to her institution, Inspector Kenche Gowda said. The woman reportedly said that she did not file a complaint with the cops earlier due to fear that the aid to her school would be stopped. The alleged victim is a widow and has been running the school for the past two years, Cops said.
